Blues are the new black and add a bold pop of character to any space. The Pantone Color Institute forecasted that the color of the year is Classic Blue, and Sherwin Williams forecasted it would be Naval, "the world's most relaxing hue." Both of these hues of blue reflect strength, tranquility and calmness. >
Pastels are still being used today for their soft, calming presence on accent walls and decor. The top rated hues are pale pink and pale green, which both compliment other bold colors and make the space feel light and refreshing.>
Bold patterns are being used for tiles, wall coverings, textiles and accents. Both abstract and geometric patterns pair beautifully with modern and historic pieces, and can be used for both contemporary and classic designs. Bold botanicals are also popular, especially old floral prints for a romantic country style, or tropical palms for a breezy beach style.
Painted doors and trim are striking and add contrast and character to a space. In addition to beautiful wood tones, we are seeing bold front door paint choices and softer colors for interior trim and doors.
Natural materials like Rattan are making a comeback through lighting and furniture to soften the room. Marble and stone surfaces are also creating a stunning look whether as flooring or as a wall feature, and are gaining high popularity in kitchens and bathrooms.
